Techniques
Techniques are what your character can do in a fight. Their powers and abilities are limited depending on their Level. All techniques start at Level 1 and caps at Level 50. One can spend (Level*2) SP to upgrade a Technique and no Levels can be skipped. For example, if your Technique is at Level 1 and you want to upgrade it to Level 2. Then, you spend (2*2)4 SP. If you want to upgrade it to Level 3 from Level 2. Then you spend (3*2)6 SP. But if you want to upgrade it to Level 3 from Level 1, then you spend [(2*2)+(3*2)]10 SP. Also, any technique that is Implant dependent cannot be of a Level greater than the Implant Level.
Basically, there are three types of techniques: Offensive, Defensive and Supportive.
Offensive techniques are the ones that does damage, while Defensive techniques protect you from attacks. Supportive techniques are those techniques that buffs/debuffs the stats of yourself, your comrades or your opponents. A good combination of the three would give you an excellent strategic advantage in fights.
Assuming the character possesses an Implant that allows him to materialize the ice element, let’s see examples for the three different types of techniques:
Name: Ice Blade
Implant Dependent?: Yes
Type: Offensive
Level: 0
Range: Self
Description: The user concentrates hard and materializes a sharp blade, the size of a pocket knife, by solidifying the water vapour in the atmosphere.
Drawbacks: The blade is ineffective against any armor or hard substance. It will melt away in few seconds. One post duration and one post cooldown.
Name: Frozen Barrier
Implant Dependent?: Yes
Type: Defensive
Level: 5
Range: Short
Description: Extending his arms to the front, the user creates a circular ice shield that would protect him from any attack that is of equal and lower levels.
Drawbacks: The shield will shatter after getting hit by an attack. Lasts for a post and has one post cooldown.
Name: Chilly
Implant Dependent?: Yes
Type: Supportive
Level: 3
Range: Medium
Description: The user lowers the surrounding temperature making everyone in range slower by 2.
Drawbacks: Although used to such temperatures, the user himself is slowed by 1. The effect lasts only for 2 posts.
Below is a guide to how powerful your technique is with respect to its level.
Level Range | Power |
0 - 10 | These are the techniques that are still in the developing stage. No serious damage can be done using them. |
11 - 20 | Now, the techniques are near fully developed. It is at this stage, the techniques start to bite and sting real hard. |
21 - 30 | Techniques of this level are to be feared. When hit squarely, they can put you in the hospital for months. |
31 - 40 | This is where it gets really serious. These possess the potential to fatally wound or even kill. |
41 - 50 | People targeted by these techniques do not live to tell the tale. |
All these are general guides to help you with your fights. Please remember that someone with low level techniques/stats can always beat another character with high level techniques/stats using good strategy.
